My betta fish have always been active even eating from hand and he always swim up every time I get closer to his tank but recently I have noticed that he started heavily breathing and I though there was something wrong with the water parameters and I tested them using a Fresh water master kit and all the water parameter are how they supposed to be and then he started staying in the bottom of the tank when I get closer he swims up but only for like 5 seconds then he goes right back to the bottom and stays all day in the bottom of the tank. I moved him to a hospital tank for now just until I know what’s wrong.

How old is he?
If he is getting older he will need some more resting spots closer to the top of the tank. you can also lower the water level to make the swim shorter/easier for him.
