Aquarium Beginners: DON’T DO THIS!

When I first started in the Aquarium hobby, I made mistakes that caused a lot of problems in my tanks. In this video, I’ll share 5 of them so you can avoid them and build a healthier Planted tank from the start.

  1. I was told the same stuff when I started. "You need aqua soil / dirt / CO2 to grow these plants". I did that and made a mess. Too many variables. I started again with bare substrate and no CO2, learned nutrient levels and growth exploded. CO2 is a nice option, but you need the basics first.

  2. Ok, for us who don’t know… what is the concern about horned nerite snails vs regular ones?? It sounded important. Just starting my planted aquarium and ready to add snails…

  3. buying plants most specially online where they give you small stems or kinda like seedlings, its better to plant them emersed than submerge, they grow faster because of the free co2 and they can develop roots faster after 2 weeks atleast to reduce plants weathering and increase survivability, considering it cen help you learn about plants and there nutrition needs when isolate, I learned the hard way how to keep fern type plant because they melt first to adapt into your water parameter then they need more potassium than other plants but this will cause other plants to adapt into new nutrient parameters or scheduled fertilizing.

  4. I'm also in the process of down sizing my filters in aquariums. I realized that I have too much flow and way too much filtering going on for clear water than what is needed.
