He will sometime just chill on his hiding rock and just lay there like this. Is this normal? He seems healthy but wanted to check with the community. TIA!

Oh yes absolutely normal.. You see Bettas have a lot of personality and there are times when they’ll pull off a pose like this that’d surprise you and make you worry. Once they get comfortable with the tank, they tend to display this behaviour. So chill.. As long as he’s active, eating fine, nothing to worry about. They’re such darlings! Enjoy.. 😊😊

  2. He looks alert and aware of you, no labored breathing or agitated gills, fins looks healthy, his posture isn’t flopped over, but intentional looking (he’s holding himself up)

Looks healthy to me! Bettas like to rest from time to time, but long finned varieties like yours rest a lot more often. Think of trying to swim in a wedding gown. Also their first times having actual space to exercise and swim ans grow muscles is with us in their tanks, so it can take a while for them to get used to swimming with those long fins, too

He looks happy and healthy so far, so good job 🙂

  3. My first betta, Mooch, used to do this. He was a drag queen who wanted me to peel him a grape.
