Yesterday was epic, went out fishing just went out for a casual fun day, the fish where biting sure enough as I stop to make something to eat I was not expecting this one to bite, it took me 9 mins and 34 seconds to bring in using 6 pound line, at first I thought I was hooked into a floating log or the fish wrapped up into something, nope it’s was a 14.05 pound 37 inch northern pike, that day a bunch of my friends where having a fishing derby I didn’t know they were fishing near me, when they saw the fish they sed you should have join you would have won lol.
But this season really thought me a lot big fish are not dumb they didn’t get that big for nothing, when it came down to my test 8 out of 10 times they went for the 6 pound line with the bait vs 50 pound line.
The last last two photos was the last pike I caught on Tuesday and I caught the other one on Saturday.

Presuming you were running with a 50 lb braid for the 50 lb line? Something thin like Revolve, or what diameter?
I figure even for monsters 20 lb is probably quite substantial.
