I’ve had this fly set up for a couple months now and have been teaching myself how to cast in my back yard for a couple weeks. Decided this morning I wanted to actually try to fish so I went to Walmart(no fly shop near me) and bought some olive woolybuggers with the thought of trying to catch some Smallmouth(this creek is a great for smallies). Tied up some cheap leader and tippet from Walmart and started wading. After a few casts into a hole that looked promising i landed this little blue gill. A few casts later I caught another one before I had to call it quits. Very excited to catch a fish my first outing im really glad I talked myself into finally going, it’s been a long battle with myself of being too scared to go out and make a fool of myself infront of others almost to the point where I thought I’d never go. The plan is to fish this area a little more and get some better practice before I head out to some of the good trout waters that are a couple hours away!
