Saw this beautiful king betta the other day and was wondering what their requirements typically would be. I already have an 11g setup that’s been going for over two years and been considering setting it up for one but not sure if I’d need a larger setup.

  1. 5 gallon is usually the minimum for standard bettas! For a king (the in between to standards and giants) or giant I’d say 10 so 11 gallons works perfectly!

    Now, follow up questions!

Parameters? (Gimme numbers, not just “good” or “perfectly fine”, along with your kh/gh readings if you can! And test your high range ph too instead of just your low range ph if you’re using the api freshwater master liquid test kit!)

Is the tamp right? (76-82°f, 78°f is the preferred sweet spot)

What kind of filtration does it receive? (Most people use sponge filters or low flow HOB filters!)

What’s already in the tank? (Fish wise if any)

Can we get a photo of it? (I love seeing other people’s set ups and this allows us to see if any changes need to be made!)

Do you have a separate tank set up incase he needs to be moved and solo? (And can you take filter media from the 11 gallon to kick start the cycle in the separate tank? You can seed a sponge filter for a little while in the 11g if needed!)

Have you had a betta before?

What do you plan on feeding him? (I work in an aquatics pet store and can assist where needed for suggestions! Own 24 bettas myself)
