I have the motor and the quick disconnect. I do like the motor and the and the quick disconnect is great. Good in ponds and lakes. The river it will depend on the cfs.

55lb is a lot for a kayak and will drain your battery faster. Where do you fish? You might want to look at a 100Ah battery, depending on how long you think you’ll be running it.

I recently got the same setup minus the quick disconnect, I’ve only had it out once. It worked great on my sportsman 106 in current. If you fish rivers with current I would definitely recommend the 55lb motor

I highly recommend spending a little extra on a good lithium ion battery – lighter and get more capacity.

$80 seems stupid high for a quick disconnect. Check out SAE wire connections. I got 2 for $15 or less. You just need to splice the wires. You can also buy an SAE connection with a in-line fuse and ring connectors for about $15.
You could also get a 4 wire pigtail and install it yourself like in the photo.
