Hello everyone. Few months ago I upgraded my tank and it came with stoney background which hides sump behind it.
As days are getting longer and spring is slowly starting, I've noticed this beautiful algae starting to grow on aforementioned stone background.
On top of all my shrimp and betta seemingly liking the algae on rocks, I also find them to look pretty neat so I was wondering if it's possible to scrape and or transplant parts of it on rest of the background, covering rocks in it entirely?

I am really not well versed in macroalgae, it could be Cladophora aegagropila? In which case yes, taking small sections and transplanting them can work to make a carpet! Its kinda slow growing and a bit delicate afaik

If that is what it is, you can buy them in balls called marimo balls – you may be able to speed up the carpeting for a bit of $$ by flattening out some marimo balls
