I’m new to trying to fish for a specific fish. I usually just use night crawlers and fish for sunfish or little catfish. I’d like to try to get a bass and am wondering if a lure like this will work? I don’t have much in my tackle box for now but am planning to do some shopping this weekend.

Sometimes. Wouldn’t be my first choice though.
More for crappie in my area, never seen a bass hit one. Now. Now a couple rooster tail spinners will get sand bass all day during spawning.
If you drop it right in front of its nose it’ll bite it
Good bass bait is a senko style plastic worm on a wide gap hook, they will grab it right off the bottom. The best color depends on location and conditions
Yes you can catch bass with this. Caught 100s on them growing up. You will also catch a lot of smaller fish, but for sure bass will bite it.
It would be hit and miss where I am. Pretty small but could get bites. Jigs with about a 3-5” tail, spinnerbaits, frogs and panther martin or mepps spinners are my normal go to. Cheapest and best option is always plastic tails on jigs or other types or hook rigs. You can spend a ton on lures and not catch as much as plastics.
It would for sure work places I’ve been. I fish Johnson Beetle spin white/chartrous with a little silver jig spinner and catch large mouth all day.
I’ve caught all sorts of fish with crappie jigs. Catfish, bass, crappie, bluegill, you name it. If you take a curly worm tail and thread it on the hook they hit like crazy. I keep several crappie jigs in each of my tackle boxes just in case.
You can catch a bass with a twig and a hook on it. Doesn’t mean it’s ideal though. This is not meant for bass. This is for small pan fish.
It’ll catch a bass fisherman
I’ve caught nearly every fish that bites a lure (in my state) with these.
I like throwing either black or white ones on a high-low setup and then bounce it off the bottom.
This is a crappie or panfish jig, I’ve caught monster bass on them, but most of the time on livescope they will come check it out and turn away.
I usually use that for crappie, although I have caught bass a few times.
My old co worker from Michigan said, ” You could just throw a damn hook in and catch a bass.”
Something smaller like a sunfish or crappie will most likely be enticed to bite it before a bass will but you could probably get a bass on that.
I’ve caught bass on things a lot smaller that. This jig appears to be something used to target panfish like crappie, but you could absolutely catch bass with that. Cast it along some lily pads or other weeds or docks. Bass love to ambush prey out of structure like that
