I posted a little over a week ago worried about fin rot, and was told that he was probably fine. However, the one fin that I was worried about has definitely worsened. It seems to be only that fin. The same fin also recently started to curve before it started “splitting”. My water parameters are exactly where they should be, temp is good, and I have an Indian almond leave in the tank as well. He has a mixed diet as well, not sure if that is useful, but just info dumping. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. First pick was taken Friday. Seems to have happened over the weekend.

Do you use liquid test kits or the strip kind? I am NO expert by any means but I’ve heard the strip kinds can be inaccurate, which could potentially mean more ammonia in the tank than a strip test is indicating. Hope someone more knowledgeable can help you find the cause!!!

Yes it is. You need to set up a hospital tank 3-5 gallons, with no substrate, a heater, and an air stone or a filter with no media for surface movement. I’d also put a betta leaf hammock in there for him to rest near the surface. Then get some sea chem kanaplex and follow the treatment plan. While he’s in the hospital tank do a 30% water change on his main tank and continue watching parameters. Use sea chem stress guard for about a week after returning him to his home tank.

I dealt with chronic fin rot for a YEAR with my fish, this is what solved it for good.
