I had one of the worst days in quite some time
– I got deported from Moldova where I work part time and live part time with my partner.
Her birthday's tomorrow and I can't go back in the country for 2 months.
When I came back to my parents' place this morning all fish were dead. The CO2 canister emptied itself completely and 50bar of gas was injected in only a few hours.
3 bristlenose plecos, 4 honey gouramis, 9 rosy barbs, 12 amano shrimp, 50 arex snails and 12 danios died…
What's my next step?

  1. I’m sorry but…. deported from MOLDOVA ??? how the fck is that even possible.

I had to setup my aquarium second time and it hurts.

If it hasn’t been long, I’d give the plecos an extra day in case they magically recover. They’re surprising sometimes. Not that I expect them to, just that there’s maybe a tiny slim chance.

    Other than that… sorry. That’s rough. 🙁

This is exactly why I don’t personally trust high tech setups or high maintenance rigs.

One thing breaks, one small malfunction and all my friends are gone.

Leaving on vacation or being unable to maintain them for whatever reason for 5 days and coming back should NOT mean everything dies.

So what if my plants look less beautiful than they would under CO2?

And this ladies and gentlemen is why I am absolutely terrified of investing in co2 for my 4 planted tanks. I have happy jungles in 4 of my tanks and I use eco soil and strong lights. I’m happy with that. Plants may not be as amazing as they could but I rather not risk it. Dealing with possible malfunctioning heaters is enough worry for me.
