Got some potential storms coming to southern Illinois later tonight, so I decided to hit up one of my local fishing holes after work. Had two missed blow ups on the frog by the same bass, so I switched to a topwater field mouse instead. I did a complete lap around this pond with no bites until I made a cast towards the island in the middle of it. Something booked it as my bait hit the water, so I made more casts away from the initial spot in case the fish came back. I was glad I waited.
After maybe 10-15 minutes, I made one more cast that was spot on with the cypress knobs sticking out of the water and began my retrieve. That's when I heard the "SLURP" and the fight was on. Once it was over and the fish safely landed, I ran to my car and grabbed my scale (slightly upset that I didn't have my camera on me). After I got my picture, I released her back to the depths so she can return to her bed

This should be pinned at the top of the sub as a reference for the slew of “look at my 4-pounder” 2-pound bass we’ve been seeing lately
Fuck yeah dude.
