I just put 4lb mono on my new tiny baitcaster, ill use it for ponds 🎣 but i feel that 4 is too light.

I usually go for bass Should i upgrade to 6lb ??

Or should i just put some light braided line??

The thing is that i still need practice and get familiar with the set up to avoid those painful birdnest that if i think that they are painful with mono i can’t imagine how painful they can be with light braided line any suggestions??

  1. I fish 4lb for bass all the time, just gotta use your drag properly. I wouldn’t use 4lb braid on that though. I had 6lb braid on my baitcaster for awhile and it would bite into itself all the time and cause headaches

  2. Line can always catch bigger fish than it’s rated for if you use rod and drag properly.

I wouldn’t use braid on that specific reel. Stick with good ole mono. I use an awesome 6# mono that has the thickness of 4# for my ultralight sets (Sunline Super Natural). I think you’d be best using something similar. Get good with that and go nuts with braid later on.
