Hi all!
today is the first day of the fishing season in Nova Scotia and I was hoping to get some tips for a trout newbie.
I usually fish Williams Lake (Herring Cove Area) and Grand Lake (Sambro Area) as well as their rivers and streams. I have been told by acquaintances that they hold trout but i have yet to catch one. I was wondering:
1) Would these streams and rivers that flow into the ocean or harbour hold trout?
There’s just something in my mind that they’d not venture there with the proximity to salt water (though i fish them)
2) Do you have any suggestions to location or strategy for these bodies of water?
I typically stick to where the rivers and lakes meet as well as structure or vegetation.
Any tips generally would be greatly appreciated! I mainly fish for trout with spinners or Carolina rigs with gulp floating eggs. Recently i acquired a bare essentials fly fishing set up which i intend to use at these lakes as well.
* I have had success fishing for Bass, but in the 10 years since i moved here no trout.
** I am sorry about the pins on the map images, i use them to track stocked lakes and lakes with special regulations.
