My second bass and slightly larger than my first (about ~0.7 pounds). Also like my first, I caught it by “accident”. My hook was snagged on a tree, and I had to set my rod down to get to where it was snagged as I had to walk through some brush. Threw the senko into the water when I released it, both so it doesn’t snag on anything else and the off chance something bites during the time it takes me to get back to my rod.
Well wouldn’t you know, a bass bit when my rod was laying on the ground, and it tried to swallow a soft plastic worm. It was hooked right in the upper esophageal sphincter. Tried to pull it out through the mouth with hemostats, but there wasn’t enough room. Tried to dig it out through the gill plate, but I fear I might have just made hook sit even worst. I was keeping the fish out of the water for a lot longer than I was comfortable with and it was weakening pretty fast, so I had no choice but to just cut the hook. The hook was able to wiggle around pretty easily, so I would think it’s not going to be too obstructive. Fish didn’t swim off as strong as I liked, but I’ll take what I can get.
This is also my first bass I’ve ever caught with an artificial lure. My other one was with a live minnow.
