7’ length, I think it’s a Light and it has HUGE amounts of action

I understand I could get brass or carbon fiber rings to mount the reel instead of tape, but I got it this way and it’s worked so far for stocked rainbow trout and bluegill/pumpkinseed.

(And a theory question, is there an actual benefit to this type of mounting or is it just a style/comfort/personal preference thing)

    Show us the rest of the handle. I presume you mean 7′? It looks suspiciously like a 2wt Stream Dance fly rod.

  2. Late 80’s on age. The advantage to a Tennessee handle is balance. You can mount the reel where you like the balance based on the weight of your specific reel.
