Should be fine. Just don’t whip it out there. Kind of lob it into the area you want.

On many rods you’ll be able to get away with casting a lure slightly above the recommended spec, especially if you’re good about taking it easy. On some though, you run a real risk of snapping your rod on a cast, likely closer to the tip. Just use your best discretion and be careful

I have thrown 2 and 3 ounce glidebaits on a rod made for 1/2-3/4 ounce bass jigs, just adjust your casting force to take it easy on the rod, i would never cast a 3 ounce glide as hard as a half ounce jig. Rod WOULD snap.

  4. Should be fine. I’ve lobbed 3oz sinkers for catfish and striper on my ugly stick rated up to 3/4oz lmao. I wouldn’t do it on my higher end rods tho

Me? I’d throw it, just not whip it my buddy loves whoppers and choppos. Throws 75’s and 90’s on a cheap light rod rated up to 5/16 because he likes how far they can go.. he is fully aware he is going to snap that bastard one day.
