Right out of the package I noticed the reel would slip/lock up after every turn. After taking it apart I saw the main gear under the drag knob and gear under the tension knob would mis-align every few teeth. The main gear is also very wobbly. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Normally I’d say the other end of that smaller spur gear would be secured by the cover/body but if it was locking up prior to disassembly this would be incorrect.

If it’s that new, return or exchange under warranty would be the best option.

It’s normal for the gears to wiggle when you don’t have the spool and side cover to hold them in place. This is meaningless. What do you mean it slips/locks up? What specifically slips and locks up? The spool? The handle? The clutch mechanism? Was your drag loose when you were turning the handle? We need a better description of your problem.

It may have been misaligned from the beginning. Put it back together with the appropriate amount of grease and try again

    Kast king not functioning properly?

    Color me suprised…

Seriously I suggest moving on if you can afford to.

Return immediately if it happened prior to you taking it apart. The spool shaft or the bearing in the spool tension knob should hold the pinion shaft in place. This usually happens when disassembled, but not when it’s together. Sorry for your inconvenience, I have been loving Kastking products for a little over a year now. 🤝
