Hey all I fish in Singapore, at a jetty in seletar reservoir. The weeds are plentiful and a massive pain but you can frequently see peacock bass swimming among them.

No matter what, I can never get them to bite. I've tried an 8g floating crank lure and a 1/0 Bucktail teaser (which was recommended for bass đŸ€” ). Line is about 30lbs. See the video for reference. I can stand there for hours moving the lure about them, but they won't bite.

if you see them they see you. also not because you throw a lure at them it means they have to bite it. it’s all stuff you learn with the experience, trial and error. if they don’t bite there must be something wrong you’re doing.
as far as i know topwater should be a good starting point for peacock bass. 30lb seems too much, size down to 20.

Have you tried a smaller lure and not a bedding fish? I probably wouldn’t listen to recommendations from people 100%, keep them optional, find out what works for you in your area. A pro tip, if your lure doesn’t “match the hatch” meaning matches other fish in the body of water, you’ll probably experience less interest. Find out what they eat in that body of water and throw something similar. Like I wouldnt fish a 8” tuna popper in a small pond.
