My buddy and I caught this little guy in the lake yesterday but were unsure what causes this coloration. The markings are split straight down the middle. Any educated fish people out there who can explain it?

Now that’s weird! It’s not like a melanistic or leucistic fish in my opinion because the half that “doesn’t” have markings actually does and isnt just straight pale or dark, but rather has the markings of a more mature fish. Maybe a hormone disorder? This is coming from me, not a fish scientist, just an admirer of genetic and aesthetic fish anomalies

Thats really cool, I’ve seen a lot of unique looking trout, but never one like that.
