Realistically if you plan your day this is all you need in your box. I have this along with a scale, pliers, scissors, and bags of plastics. If you actually analyze a spot you're about to hit, you can just pack only what you need. I used to carry a bulky backpack with everything in it but now I have just this in a sling and I feel 10x more free.

Yes but I’m not carrying shit with my hands. My hands are for the beer and my rod. Which is why I went with tactical fanny pack.
Its bad but I often carry a full backpack with a ton of shit. Probably weighs 20-25lbs. I dont know why I do it, its ridiculous. But I usually do bring everything in there, I guess it’ll give me some sort of workout often walking with that pack on my back. I usually set it down though when im actually fishing a spot.
This tackle box looks boring imo, everything is the same color.
My backpack is full of surprises and can hold things that I don’t want to carry.
My backpack has: salmon eggs, trout marshmallows, fake wigglers, container of real worms, garlic scent tube, power bait, entire fillet kit, tackle box with main gear..that’s all in one pocket. I can also hook my bucket to my backpack if I wanted to bring it along.
I also carry a notebook, smoke set, snacks, and a few other things in other pockets. Tape measure and flashlight on loops. Holds my drinks for easy clean-up and I also use a side pocket to hold my baitcaster. That way I can use my ultralight when I am circling the pond to my next destination.
A fly fisher would probably tell you that yours is too much and show a hat or vest full of flies.
Backpacks can do wonders and what we bring along are all based on user preferences.
I like to fish light when need be. I went to a lake a few days ago and all I had was two lures on me and my pole.
Gamakatsu backpack: Scale, terminal tackle box, mixed bait box, 2-3 bags of soft plastics, pliers, water bottle and line cutter, two rods. I can stow one in the rod holder instead of on the ground.
Daiwa side bag: One small tackle box, pliers, line cutter, one bag of mixed soft plastics, one rod.
I agree you don’t need a ton of tackle, but my beer doesn’t fit in a plano box. Plus I bring snacks, a scale, maybe a jacket or hoody. Pliers. A bag for trash, ect. Maybe just a plano box for 30 minutes, but I’m out there all day and I like to be prepared. I don’t mind a backpack at. all, feel naked without it.
Dont sleep on a very small 1 strap shoulder bag. Been using it for years.
Do what you want, sometimes I go light, sometimes I take a wagon with 5 poles and a gang of crap. Don’t need lures either, can catch bass on worms and hotdogs🤷🏾♂️
But then I have to hold stuff
I have two zip lock bags in my car that I carry, which one depends on which pole I’m carrying:
1 bag has some jig heads and some curly tailed grubs
1 bag has some bullets weights, EWG hooks, and some rubber worms.
Both bags have fingernail clippers and an inline spinner of some kind. Both bags fit in my front pocket
Pliers and a rag in my back pocket.
I have a whole ass patio covered with gear I think I’ll use. Just cleaned it up actually. But that’s what I use 99% of the time lol
I agree we may take too much most days, but I’d rather have the option to decide to switch from crankbaits to spinnerbaits and have a selection of colors to choose from when I see the water visibility. Same with jigs and spoons. I have way, WAY to much stuff at home to bri g it all but I’d rather be prepared for anything.
And the thing I love about backpacks is I can put a bunch of other stuff in there and still have two hands free for my rods.
I use a running belt that is essentially a more comfortable fanny pack
I have been shore fishing for 40 years. I would bring at least one more tackle box of stuff. It all depends on the spots and amount of ground you are willing to cover, but I have found there is a sweet spot of amount of gear, and you could definitely bring more and it wouldn’t hamper your freedom or mobility
A small pack at least if you are kayaking even a short distance . Carry needle pliers . Digital scale. Backup batteries for said scale . A pair of tough gloves in case you hook into a gar. Different weights and hooks. Some plastics . Some cranks . A top water or two in case you get cover. A big water bottle . A flask full of Irish whiskey. Some first aid essentials. And of course beef jerky.
I could get by with hooks & Senkos that’s what I always wind up using….and some uncrustable PB & Js
Pretty limited selection and if you loose a lure, there’s no backup.
Lol, i love these posts. Buddy, i can tell you suck at fishing just by looking at your pond tackle box.
My backpack has like two planos in it and a lot of other small gear, like a thermometer, pliers, and a leatherman. I bet next you’ll be telling me I don’t need 2-3 rods when I’m bank fishing as well.
it does make it a hell of a lot easier though bud
Sure, but why not throw that in a backpack so I can carry it more comfortably while having both hands free
If I don’t catch anything on a June bug trick worm Texas rigged there ain’t no fish in that lake lol.
Be careful storing soft plastics in the same spot grid as hard baits like that (the little worm tail sticking out from under the jerkbait) The soft baits will melt the hard baits sometimes
I don’t bank fish much but I hate the idea of carrying anything other than my rod. I want my hands free and I don’t want to have to keep picking things up every time I move. Also get some more color variety in that box!
don’t need it but i love to have it
I’m trying to bring less but I’m always going with a backpack packed to the gills. Backpack is practically weightless so put as little in it as you want
Im with you except I’m not doing homework. Can’t make me.
Where do you keep your, multi tool, coffee, snacks, and weed?
I usually pond hop with 2 rods – 1 spinning rod & 1 baitcaster. I use 1-2 of the bass pro lure wraps [linked here](https://www.basspro.com/p/Bass-Pro-Shops-Ultimate-Lure-Wrap). I will have 1 small one with terminal tackle (wacky hooks, dropshot weights & hooks, bullet weights, & 4/0 ewg hooks). Another larger one has my extra lures (chatterbaits, jigs, swim jigs, etc.). Then a couple bags of plastics (senko, rage bug, paddle tail, & freeloaders). I can throw all that in the pockets of jeans or cargo shorts.
This guy likes green pumpkin I think
I got a 10-sleeve worm binder with a small tackle box in the front pocket from Academy. I keep various types of soft plastics and some spinnerbaits, jigs, and chatterbaits in the sleeves. A few hard baits and terminal tackle go in the little tackle box in the front pocket.
It holds enough so that I have a variety of options, but it’s super light and easy to carry, and out of the way for casting.
I keep the big tackle boxes at home, and just keep the little bag loaded with what I need.

of course you don’t, minimize is the way to go!
I have a tiny shoulder bag which contains a few lures, a tiny bottle of water, a beer and a sandwich, a couple pliers and even a scale. It’s the right compromise between having free hands, not having to carry a backpack (i walk on lakes bank A LOT) and not starving/dehydrate.
Attached to my belt I have one of those little magnet clips for the net, so handy!
No senko?
Same!
