In the previous year, Dollarama had a 5$ rod, the Swan Darago 150. It was 5', MH and had terrible quality all around (blue paint, eyelets, handle, etc). It was as good or terrible as a 5$CAD rod could be.
Couple days ago, I stumble on this new Mako rod. It seems to be 6.6' with an all black finish and medium power. Quality is wayyyy better on this new rod (regarding its 5$CAD price tag). The paint job is fair, the eyelets seems of better quality and the foam of the handle, while still bad, feels better than the Darago rod.
I didn't fish with it yet, fishing in my area is closed for a couple of weeks, but I am impressed so far.
I don't think it can get better than that for 5$CAD.
