Got this cheap rod as I’m getting into fishing and on my second day the screw cap (?) flew off when I cast. I guess sometimes they get loose and I should’ve tightened it. Anyways, the piece that holds that handle flew into the water, and now I am left unable to use it. The model is Shakespeare CMF30 or CMF3WALLEYE . Will I be able to just get a “universal screw cap” or do I need something specific. Many thanks to anyone who can help me get back on the water!

Universal should work. https://a.co/d/08vDrAZ3
There are “universal” ones that fit many reels, but not all. You may be able to google a schematic for your reel to get the part number and order it from someplace like ereplacementparts.com. For the time being, just take your handle to a hardware store like Home Depot and find a machine screw that fits that you can just tighten with a screwdriver. It will be a metric size like M5, you will want it about 20 mm long and you will also want a washer to go on the screw. A lock washer the same metric size as the screw will work fine.
