We bought this guppy last march 12 from a street vendor…I bought guppies for my baby slider turtle tank to control algae. she's the only female in the tank so we bought her together with 3 males. first week she's been with us, all those male guppies were running after her..the following week she was feisty and tried to bite those male coming after her. This week I noticed the black spots seem to be bigger. This is my first time taking care guppies. I moved her to a goldfish bowl since I have read she might be pregnant and put a rolled screen for babies to hide. I am not sure if this will help her or stress her. I don't have a spare pump and air stone as of now so I just placed a plant in the bowl. Please advise what to do. I just based my knowledge on google so I'm not 100% sure she's really pregnant. Idk when she's going to spawn.

Do not stress. This is the most exciting time. You can just leave her in there, get some top covering like duckweed so the babies can hide. I started with 4, I now have over 50 odd. Trust me, they are prolific breeders.

From what I remember is after the female gives live birth, it’s best you separate them from the babies to increase their chances of survival because they will go eat them…

After that if you may want to eventually get an airstone.

The small fry usually eat something like brine shrimp. Having some plants like guppy crash, or java moss helps them want to spawn I think.

    Good luck!
