My rainbow shark, peeking out from underneath a rock. Fully grown, I wanna say about seven years old (est).
He is my tank's oldest tenant. For the longest time, his only tank mate was my fully grown Oscar, and while they kept out of each other's way, this guy made sure to have a good hiding spot (understandably). However, he recently had to say goodbye to his tankmate after he got sick, and while I loved keeping Oscars, I am currently trying for a community tank, especially since I wanna try plants again.
And while he is now the biggest fish in the tank, I guess old habits die hard. He used to stay in a cave decoration that was more for terrariums, but since I wanna try and have everything inside natural, I took it out.
I saw him peeking out from underneath this big lava rock in the tank today. The rock itself has a little indent, which I figured would make it a good temporary hiding spot for my small Pleco, or any of the corys in the tank. But the guy likes this side of the tank, and while that hole is a tight fit, he has been digging around and making it his own. There's a much bigger hideout I tried to make for him on the other side with driftwood, but I guess he likes the smaller spaces.
Such a goober.
