Hey everyone,
Looking for some honest feedback on my tank.
First off.. yeah, I did a fish-in cycle 😅 It’s been running for almost a month now. I’ve been doing regular water changes and monitoring things closely. Current stock is just a betta and a nerite snail.
This is my 9 gallon planted tank. I added plants gradually as they arrived so I didn’t really plan the layout from the start and now I’m not sure if it looks good or just messy.
Plants in here:
- Jungle val
- Ambulia
- Pearlweed
- Dwarf sag
- 2x Anubias nana petite
- 1x Anubias nana golden
- Amazon sword
- Pennywort
- Floaters: red root floaters, Amazon frogbit, and guppy grass (just floating for now since it came in rough shape)
Also yeah… I realize I might have overdone equipment 😅
- 2 sponge filters (only one running)
- Digital thermometer + glass thermometer
My wife says it looks ugly already because there’s too much going on 😂
Personally I feel like it’s not the number of plants but the layout just looks meh.
Questions:
- Does it actually look overcrowded or just unorganized?
- Should I remove some plants or just let everything grow in first?
- Any suggestions on improving the layout (without tearing everything down)?
Appreciate any feedback, still learning 🙏

i think it looks good, i would let the plants grow in and it’ll look more full
i also have two sponge filters, an inkbird heater controller/thermometer, a digital thermometer, and a metal thermometer.
its good to be extra safe!
