and also stupid, i have lost like 3 streamers by accidentally backcasting into this chain while standing on the bank, if you had to guess, which direction would they have launched? every time i do it the line shoots back in front of me where i was going to cast, i turn around see the chain wobbling and i can never find the streamer!

The answer here is to work on your roll cast or side cast
I would guess 2 or 3 cause the hook likely snagged on that side of the chain. However, stuff like that can be pretty unpredictable and it could really be any direction
I fish in New England, there is no backcast room lol all shrubs and trees. I got good at roll casting.
