I recently got two young betta imbellis. The guy tried to give me one male and one female but said it is difficult to tell at this stage. Now they have grown a bit. Can anybody help me with gender identification? Thank you!

Imbellis generally should not be cohabitated, they are a member of the splendens complex and have the possibility of being as aggressive as domestics
If theyre anything like splendens, imma guess female. The closer one looks like theres an egg spot, and they both have the dark bars youd see on female splendens. Im absolutely not an expert though, its just an observational guess
Ok so the pale one is a female and the darker is male

At this age they are likely too young to be gendered, but people there are familiar with Imbellis.
