Just got this reel brand new yesterday. Is this the line roller or something needing oil?

New reels tend to be overgreased and usually not in a proportional way. I wouldn’t worry about it, it will even out once it’s been used for a while and “broken in”. If you want a better “feel and sound” from the get-go with new reels, the JDM products tend to have better initial quality than NA market reels.
