Does he have diamond eyes and will he be prone to have diamond eyes? What type of a betta fish is he? I narrowed it down to either a Koi or a HMPK, please help me out. Thank you

  1. For HMPK’s I’ve mostly seen like 180 tails so to me he looks more like a koi? But oh my what a beautiful fish, he’s GOLD!!! That’s insane I haven’t ever seen one so shimmery

  2. That is genuinely the most beautiful betta I’ve ever seen omg. Doesn’t appear to be diamond eye tho, just his coloration you’re seeing.

  3. Sometimes it develops over time. Definitely something to watch for. If you are concerned, start feeding him in the exact same spot in his tank every time. Then if he does get diamond eye, he will still know where to go to get his food.

Business man 1: “Ruuun! It’s Gojiraaa!!”

Business man 2: “actually due to international copyrights it is not Gojira.”

Business man 1: “But still! We should run! As though it was Gojiraaaa!!!”

Business man 2: “though it isn’t”

He’s a copper koi plakat, I have one like him
Currently yours doesn’t have diamond eye but from the picture it looks like a little bit of the silver scaling is in the middle of his eye. He’ll be very prone to developing it as he ages.
My one was good for about a year then started developing it and now at 2 years old he’s fully blind.

They are prone to tumors too because of the dragonscaling, like diamond eye there’s not much that can be done to stop it besides keeping them as comfortable as you can

Neither are guaranteed but they are common unfortunately, hopefully yours stays healthy 🙂

No he doesn’t have diamond eye. He is the type to get it though. It’s usually later on they develop it. It’s pretty obvious because it’s the scales that grow over and they’ll be shiny

If you start to see the scales grow over the eyes, and its pretty obvious when it happens, then start feeding in the same spot (best next to a betta hammock near the surface of the water) and at the same times consistently. This trains them so they know where and what to do when they go blind.

If he does develop diamond eye, use a pipette to put the food just in front of his mouth and release the food there one at a time. Results are best if you put the food bites in a small amount of water and such water and food into the pipette then drop it in front of his mouth this keeps the food from sticking to the pipette.

I’ve had no issues with long life after diamond wire using this method. Also if he’s with other fish, if he develops it, put him into a solitary tank to reduce stress.
