The other post was deleted because he passed away. Thank you all for the advice. Its horrible how quickly his condition became lethal.. I dont know what exactly happened. I didnt know tonight was my last night with him, after 6 months of teaching him to grab food from my hand, even jump out of water. He was a very intelligent boy and im so deeply sorry hes gone.. I feel like its my fault, either because I was ignorant or because of a freak chance. If you see this just give your betta an extra wave for me.

I could’ve done something about it if I had known or thought to check the ammonia levels. They were ultimately what became lethal for him. I wrote his pale coloration off as older age or even just color shifting as a betta grows new fins with age. I didnt know he was sick and he was trying to tell me. I feel awful. I hope it was something spontaneous and unpreventable. I try to take all the caution when taking care of my fish, but sometimes things just happen
