I posted a while ago that my reel was spooling low ( only occasionally ) and I didn't know why. Previous Post

Today I was fishing and this happened – the line got caught on the back of the bail, causing the low spooling that turned into a rats nest if I cast with it that way.

  1. Are you manually flipping the bail back down after the cast or are you just reeling and letting it flip back down automatically. After you cast you should be setting the bail back manually and positioning the line into the line roller before doing any reeling.

  2. Are you sure your bail isn’t spinning the wrong direction? Like, does this reel have a switch to disengage the anti-reverse and your whole life has been a lie (since you first spooled the reel). It sure looks like your low windings are going the wrong way.
