I'm trying to find another, hopefully new and heavier, rod similar to this one. I searched for diawa mini spin and they do not have this style of grip on them.
I want to use one in my kayak setup, but not this one, as I do not want to break it or change it. the rod is almost like a pistol grip in the hand and does not extend past the grip point. it looks more and more like I will have to buy a rod building kit and just make it myself.
I'm guessing they changed them for balance or ergonomics, but the feel of this one is just right for small fishing.
this particular rod has very high sentimental value to me, which is why I won't use it.
that is all I'm asking, but will add the story below.

the pictured rod was the one my father liked to use when seated on the bow seat of his bass tracker boat when we went fishing. He would be running the trolling motor and flipping this rod along the bank.
it still has the last rig he tied on it from our last fishing trip, almost 20 years ago, that's why I leave it alone.
I have a short ugly stick but it's not the same with the handle going back.
