First new Surf rod set up, Looks too clean! Ready for first experience fishing from shore this weekend. Was thinking starting Santa Monica and moving North, plan on fishing surf perch, to halibut and targeting leopard sharks eventually. Any tips would be great as this ain’t really my scene yet

If you’re fishing in the surf, Carolina rig is your friend with two or 3 in gummy baits. You’re going to miss those stripers.
Im jealous. I only get to fish surf on vacation. Def could do it everyweekend tho. Cant go wrong with penn too
Santa Monica perch and halibut both reward moving water. Start with a Carolina rig, 1/2 oz egg sinker, 2 to 3 ft of 12 to 15 lb fluoro, and fish the trough just outside the first breaker.
