Yesterday I came home and he was missing half his tail. And it was all red around it. Now today he has white patches on him. He’s still breathing, but is having some trouble swimming.
In the tank there are all placid fish nothing that would have attacked him.

Something definitely took a bite of him. What fish you have ? Also it’s infected so you ll need to treat with antibiotics. Kanaplex or something milder might help
