No matter why my intentions are I classically lose, break, or scratch my sunglasses after about two years. So I don’t like purchasing fancy sunglasses.

Who’s got the best bang for the buck glasses. Been using Tifosi (polarized) recently, they’re not bad but I’m curious what this crew has to say.

  1. I’m a fan of Goodr, pretty cheap and have tons of styles. Made for runners so they stay on pretty well.

  2. I like shady rays. End up getting the pair for the cost of the first pair plus $20 for shipping for the other two pair ($10 each) you get whether lost, broken, or you just want another pair. No questions asked. They hold up well and have a handful of styles.

my wife and a bunch of people i work with swear by Goodr sunglasses. they seem to have really blown up in the outdoors community. they could be a gimmick but ive only heard great things about durability & lens quality.

  4. I just ordered the Field Kit Trout, I have the bass version and love it. How’s your experience been?

I am not a fan of Goodr sunglasses. I picked up a pair from REI a couple of years ago and they broke within 2 weeks. I returned them for a replacement and those broke too within weeks. Cheap glasses are cheaply made.

For the past 10-15 years i’ve been using Suncloud or Peppers the most for daily needs and fishing/backpacking, etc. They’re not great but at about $50 a pair, good enough to not have a heart attack if lost. I’ve also used Julbo, Raybans and Kaenon. The Kaenons were my favorite of those these, the Klemm model, but after years and years, the lenses are scratched. I once found a returned pair of Costas at REI in great shape for about $75 and those lasted pretty long and didn’t get scratched up at all. Inadvertently dropped them on the field in a stadium during a track and field event, that was the saddest day of my life.

I have loved Zenni. Seriously. Prescription and polarized sunglasses for like 130? Super great. You can go cheaper. I just get the best they have.

I buy suncloud for this reason. $50 a pair – good enough but not so pricy that I’m devastated when I inevitably lose them in the river or accidentally step on them after they fall out of a pocket (how my most recent pairs met their demise).
