I do some ledge fishing for GT , leatherjacks and milk fish and I was wondering how you guys, if you’ve tried this lure, preferred fishing it, like a fast retrieval skipping across the top of the water or a slower approach? It’s the GT needle nose ice cream bar. Any advice helps!

We use them in sea rock and surf for a wide variety of fish. But the hook with Dacron would not last with the toothy fishes we get here.
I throttle my line before the lure hits the water, which takes up the loop in the line and if you start reeling immediately, it skips on the top all the way back. Adjust your rod tip and retrieve speed as needed.
