Just moved to a new area for the summer and trying to figure out the local water.
There’s a ton of good fly fishing around, but I’m realizing how much I relied on consistent reports back home. Here it feels like everything is either outdated or super general.
Curious how you guys approach this, are you mostly just reading conditions and figuring it out, or are there better ways to plan ahead. And yes I tried the local shop, seems they maybe went out of business.

Yeah just looking at flows and the weather is generally whoever I decide when / where to fish
I’ve never used reports, I just go fishing.
Local Hatch charts
Use nymphs that imitate multiple hatches attached to a medium to small sized stonefly nymph as your bottom fly. You can never go wrong with a basic wambo combo.
What is a report? Genuine question. The only thing I’ve seen is the first guy to the water will post the gauge height and water colour to the clubs Facebook group chat.
