I counted at least 6 different lines i pulled up in this 1 snag, its probably 8 feet from a dock. Are people just cutting their line off and leaving 20 yards in the lake!?

Looks like it’s overwhelmingly braid too so they’re probably cutting it at the reel and leaving the rest in the water. I like to walk the bank and fish into the sun at sunrise and sunset so I can see the glare of all the line littered on the bank and pick it up.

I hate those snags cause the weight and give of them feel like a big fish we have a lot of those around popular fishing spots in my overfished lake. Always nice when I’m able to pull one out with braid

I despise those bottom fishers who use 2oz weights to fish in still waters and then snag every 2 casts and leave 60 feet of braid+lead pollution.

    Change hobby, you suck anyway.

  4. I mean, it happens. Sometimes the line breaks in a bad spot, a hook won’t bend loose, or I just don’t have enough room or leverage to break it off. Like if I’m in a canoe without an anchor and get snagged on the bottom I’m just pulling myself around when I try to snap the line. Sometimes I can straighten the rod so I don’t break it, and walk it back till it bends the hook out, but sometimes the line just snaps where it wants. My knots don’t really break and I can’t always snap it off close to the lure. Sucks when it happens but you do your best not to let it.

Some people do suck. Nice little trout river near me, last time I went I got to clean up a pile of trout magnet packages, styrofoam worm boxes, and Mike’s harder cans.

  5. It happens all the time unfortunately.  Sometimes it’s unavoidable, sometimes it’s shitty people, sometimes both.  I always try to clean up whatever trash I pull out of the water, one snag included at least 5 different lines, 2 crankbaits, a bass jig, and the skeleton of a dead duck.  That got chucked up on shore, wasn’t going to deal with it in the boat all day.

I pulled in a wad like that today too on a Ned rig. Just one of a few things (that ignorant people do) at the lake today that pissed me off.
