the reel is Shimano nasci 5000XG with 40LB mono line from shimano. do I need to switch lines? the line is kinda old
The rod is PE 1-4 with 10-40 lure weight. I bought from a local shop last year cuz I can't really find any good rods. but if it's not compatible I'll switch to another if ya'll can help me recommend some rods. Preferably Shimano/daiwa 👆🤓

The reel should pair with those rod specs fine, it’s a compact 5000 so it’s really a 4000 with a slightly larger spool. May be slightly butt heavy.
40lb Mono is insane as a mainline unless you’re fishing for some real heavy fish, other than that it’d kill your casting performance. Since the rod is for Pe 1-2 I’d swap out to a 30lb braided line and choose the leader material/strength off your target fish and locations.
