You don’t have to go to 1000 for an UL rod. I’m running a Shimano Sahara 2500 under a 1-6g perch UL and it works perfectly. Before I was running my old 3000 size Okuma under the UL.
I’d recommend the Sahara. Not sure about UK pricing but the smaller ones are around 60-70 GBP in Poland.
