I started fishing last season after not fishing for a long time, and I can ride my bike with a bike trailer to a local pond where my daughter can catch bugs and play while I fish.
I recently learned that they stock the pond every year with bass, trout, catfish, and bluegill. Which is most likely why I’m catching as many fish as I have been.
I do plan on moving to Lake Erie fishing eventually, but how does everyone feel about stocked ponds? It’s not like a pay lake, it’s owned by the metroparks, but man I feel like going there should be seen more as practice as I’m beginning to learn to use lures, bait casters, and hopefully soon fly fishing.
What’s everyone’s thoughts here?
I also caught my PB fish there yesterday which is pictured (my reel broke so this was reeled in by hand and lipped by hand, cats sure do like to bite lmao)

What’s not to like – it’s nice to see the revenue from fishing licenses put to work, and it provides a nice local spot for families to enjoy time together outdoors
Stocked ponds are still excellent for catch and release fishing, especially since you may even get the same nig fish as it continues to grow. Nice catch btw.
That sir, is a fish
