Currently fishing a cortland 59 dollar Wally World special. Thinking I want the lamson liquid outfit then put some RIO or SA on it, is that solid for the price? My local shop spoke highly about the real but wanted to sell me a lamson rod separately that he said was better and cheaper. Is the rod with the combo bad? would an Orvis encounter/clearwater be a better option? Maybe get the liquid 3 pack so I can add a 6 or 7 wt rod down the line? What do y’all suggest. I’m willing to spend max 500 on my setup so I will take any suggestions. Mostly fishing trout and smallmouth.
