Hello! I feel like my fishes fins are not growing, he did get very lethargic and sick several months ago and I kept him in a hospital tank and treated him and he’s back to his old personality and self, but I feel like his fins are not recovering and maybe getting shorter? I have two nertrite snails as tank mates with him, he is in a 10 gallon tank and the only other decor we have is a few live plants and a shark, but the shark doesn’t really have any rough edges that would catch the fins. I have been monitoring, water quality, close, and then doing partial changes to keep the levels in acceptable ranges. Not sure if I need to be feeding him something specific to promote thin growth or if there is fin rot or some other underlying issue that I am not seeing. Any help is appreciated.

    Tank size is 10 gallons
I have a sponge filter and air stone, and a heater
    Temperature is 78.8°
Ammonia is between and .25 nitrites are about 0 and nitrates is 5-10

I’ve had the tank for about eight months and have the fish for about six

I generally do minimum weekly water change of about 30%, but I have been doing them a couple times a week as the snails poop quite a bit and I like to get most of the poop off the sand if I can

2 nerite snails as tank mates

I have two plants one is the banana looking plant. The other one is just leaves and Moss. I’m not 100% sure on the types of plants.

We feed him once a day just a few flakes or a few pellets and we alternate between the two different foods and fast him on Sundays

He definitely looks like he has fin rot . I’d say make sure you do a gravel vac and water change to get your nitrites down to 0 and nitrates and ammonia are fin. Since you have snails I’d suggest cleaning the tank and boiling a couple catappa leafs in a small pot of 5-6 cups of water treat the water with prime or whatever u use to dechlorinate the catappa leafs water . Add some api stress coat plus or stress guard and let the pot cool to room temp and pour it into the tank. Allow it to sit for 7 days and then change out the catappa leafs and repeat after a water change . Make sure his water conditions are correct . Feed some higher protein foods to like omega one carnivore that helps with fin growth it has a lot of protein and vitamins so does San Francisco Bay four food variety
