I was inspired by someone here that had a gorgeous red tail shark so I went on a search of my own. Eventually I found this sad little grayish shark with a pinkish tail and brought it home. This was around December 2024. My friend grew and flourished. I’m so happy he has done well. I think he is huge but maybe he isn’t as big as I am thinking. 🧐

We call them “fire tail”.
My sister had one for over 10 years.
We love our red tail black sharks! We have 2, of course in separate tanks. One in a 75g with tiger barbs, flying foxes, and other semi aggressive fish. One in a 90g with tailbar hoplos, dojos, millennium rainbows, etc. Both heavily planted with lots of hardscape and hides.
They are living like kings.
We had one before for a few years that’s life got cut short due to what we think was a bacterial infection, wiped out half the tank. His name was Cuda and he was huge. He was a gentle giant. The kids helped bury him under a sapling in the yard on a rainy day.
