I do have 6 otocinclus in the tank but don't see them munching on this at all really. I am cutting down on the other things I give them (courgette/zucchini mostly) but wondering if there's anything else I can do to reduce this, fewer hours of light perhaps?

Is that AR?
Clip off the old algae infested leaves, they won’t recover and you can’t scrape them off without damaging the leaves.
AR is notoriously susceptible to algae so you gotta keep the substrate clean of detritus, fertilise it well either via root or water and moderate lighting based on whether you have co2 or not.
