Also, I know the 2nd picture is not very clear but it's the most recent and I think he's developing diamond eye already…Could somebody confirm if that is a scale growing over his eye or I'm just paranoid?
To other betta owners: is he a healthy size? Not too fat, not too skinny? I'm new to this and have no comparison for the right size. Thanks!

Looks samurai to me.
I believe it’s a dragon scale. He has more flowy fins than my samurai betta

Could also be a different strain
Dragon scale is the gene that creates opaque white scales, and samurai is the black/white color. Looks like he is both (all samurais are dragon scale)!
