Fiancé got these for me for $2 each at an estate sale.

Are these worth keeping and using? Two of my reels just broke due to the plastic gears in the reel turning to mush, and I’m wondering if these would be good replacements.

I do plan on taking them apart in the future and cleaning them if they’re worth keeping. Took the spinning reel out yesterday, it clicks while reeling but based on videos I’ve seen it’s supposed to do this I believe? Probably just needs cleaned and greased since it’s louder than other videos

Thanks for any tips or advice in advanced!

Oh yeah I love vintage setups, just remember to give the things some good and proper maintenance, they probably haven’t seen any in awhile.

Like really get in there. cleaning alcohol on q-tips on the outside components and re lube and grease everything that needs it.

I have a vintage ultra light set up and it is wonderful. But after you clean it I recommend checking the price as some of these vintage combos can buy you a couple really nice modern ones. It’s unlikely but it’s possible.

My vintage is only worth like $100 so I’d prefer to keep it.

I run nothing but vintage gear that I find a yard sales and thrift stores. I happen to be very mechanically oriented and clean and service them myself. I have yet to loose a fish as a result of equipment failure.

  3. Any working reel is worth using. I think the focus on rods and reels is way overblown. As long as it sends a lure out, it’s good
