This is a Daiwa Regal 3000 that I bought new a few months ago. This issue started happening a few weeks ago. Most of the time the drag works perfectly fine, but every once in a while the drag will slip as shown in the video.
Usually if I turn the drag down and pull some line it will start working again. Other times I have to completely unscrew the drag knob and then screw it all the way back on and it will work again.
I don’t think the braided line is slipping on the spool. What else could cause this? The first time it happened it was cold outside (~40F). But in this video it wasn’t very cold out yet it still happened. Having trouble finding any pattern to the issue.
Any advice/troubleshooting tips are appreciated! Alternatively, if it’s a defective reel, perhaps I’m better off asking Daiwa (or Cabelas) to repair or replace?

That’s not the drag slipping. That is your braid spinning on the reel. You need to use some mono or whatever as a backer or this will happen. Super common.
I know you said you do not think its the line spinning, but there is literally nothing else moving in your video. Your line cannot move like that while everything else is stationary except if it is slipping on your spool.
that’s def braid slipping on the spool
If the line is coming off the spool, but the spool is not turning, then the braid is slipping around and around the spool. You need to either use some mono backing under the braid, or tape the knot to the spool with some electrical tape.
Pull all the line off that reel, then put about 30/40 yards of mono on first, THEN tie your braid in and spool it up. The mono backing gives the braid a better surface to hold against.
everyone is right about the braid slipping on the spool.
Had this happen to me. Person who originally spooled it used electrical tape… but over time the adhesive on the electrical tape went “bye bye”. I respooled with mono backing – used a simple uni2uni knot to join the mono and braid.
one wrap of electrical tape on the spool before the braid will fix it no need to tape the knot. use an anchor knot or uni knot
