I opened up an old tackle box with some of my walleye stuff and I found this pencil plug I know you usually use these trolling from the boat. I was wondering if I were to cast it if it would work or if it's strictly for the boat

I saw a video of a guy catch a fish with a block of wood.
It won’t dive. Idk give it a try maybe it’ll be a good top water. But yea we usually handling or whip with pencil plugs. Some guys will use them from shore but they do that in heavy current but with a lot do weight.
